Arne Slot becomes bookies' favourite to leave Liverpool after Bournemouth loss

Arne Slot's position at Anfield appears increasingly precarious, with bookmakers installing the Liverpool manager as odds-on favourite to depart following the Reds' 10th loss across all competitions this campaign.

Having taken over from Jurgen Klopp and steered Liverpool to Premier League glory last term, Slot's current squad bears little resemblance to the dominant force of previous seasons, with the former Feyenoord chief grappling with a mounting injury crisis. The Dutchman cut a dejected figure after watching his team surrender a 3-2 lead to Bournemouth in stoppage time at the Vitality Stadium, having fought back from two goals down at the interval.

Following a dismal autumn spell that yielded merely three victories from 12 outings between September and November, Slot appeared to have steadied the ship with a 13-game undefeated streak. Yet stalemates against Sunderland , Fulham , Burnley and Leeds United on two occasions during that sequence have failed to ease concerns, with bookies now pricing him at 8/13 to exit.

William Hill's Lee Phelps commented: "With Liverpool winless in five Premier League matches, pressure is mounting on manager Arne Slot .

"The loss to Bournemouth could well be the straw that breaks the camel's back and it has caused a seismic shift in our sack race betting, as Slot has been cut to 8/13 favourite from 12/1 to be the next manager to leave."

"Thomas Frank is another manager who could soon be on his way out, with the current Spurs boss in at 2/1 second favourite.

" Oliver Glasner is further back at 7/1, ahead of Pep Guardiola and Sean Dyche at 20/1."

The reigning champions have slipped from fourth to sixth in the league table after failing to secure a win in their last five Premier League matches. With fixtures against Newcastle , Man City and Sunderland on the horizon, followed by clashes with three of the bottom four clubs - Nottingham Forest , West Ham and Wolves - in February and March, it's a crucial period.

With a 14-point gap separating Liverpool from the top spot, they're realistically aiming for a top-four finish once again. They'll be keen to overturn the two-point advantage that Man United currently holds over them as the season unfolds.
