Chelsea suffer fresh injury blow with defender set to miss several weeks
Chelsea defender Tosin has been ruled out for “a few weeks” with a hamstring injury, boss Liam Rosenior has confirmed.
The 28-year-old was forced off during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Brentford and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
“Unfortunately for Tosin, there’s something in his hamstring that is going to rule him out for the next few weeks,” Rosenior said.
“I can’t be more precise than that at the moment.”
But Rosenior has been boosted by the returns of Estevao, Malo Gusto and Jamie Gittens to training ahead of the game.
The trio missed the clash with their west London rivals on Saturday but are set to return to the squad for the Champions League clash with Pafos.
Illness has been affecting the Chelsea squad of late and Rosenior says Enzo Fernandez missed training on Monday, with a decision to be made on whether he is fit enough to start the game on Wednesday.
“Enzo Fernandez was ill yesterday and missed training,” Rosenior said.
“There were signs of it during the game. Fortunately, Estevao is back in, Gittens is back in, Malo Gusto is back involved. There’s a few coughs. We’re working very hard, we need to make sure the players are right for the game.”
Meanwhile, Axel Disasi is back in the first-team picture having been frozen out so far this season.
