Man Utd becoming one of the Premier League's toughest teams to beat

Manchester United may be enjoying a high from two games under Michael Carrick but they have been one of the Premier League's most difficult teams to beat for some time now and after Sunday's victory over Arsenal no team has lost fewer games than the Red Devils since the start of October.

The 3-2 win away to Arsenal was a stunning result and comes just after a 2-0 victory at home to Manchester City in the derby. It's also a result that means since the start of October no team has lost fewer games than Manchester United .

Why the start of October as a cut off point? From a United point of view although that time covers Ruben Amorim, one game under Darren Fletcher, and Carrick's interim run, it also ties in with the debut of goalkeeper Senne Lammens .

The Belgian has proven to be a shrewd signing especially after the erratic performances of André Onana and Altay Bayindir over the last two seasons. He also kept his cool against Arsenal last time out even in the face of several corners from Mikel Arteta's set-piece kings.

In that time, United have played 17 games, losing only to Everton and Aston Villa in the Premier League . Coincidentally, Villa are the other team that Arsenal lost to in that time before meeting United at the weekend.

As you would expect, City and Villa aren't far behind in that stat, losing three league games a piece since October. Chelsea have suffered four defeats in that time while Sunderland and Brighton just five.

Of course, avoiding defeat doesn't necessarily translate into a healthy points total. In that time United have also drawn seven games with only Bournemouth managing more (eight).

Those draws mean that United haven't been able to separate from the other teams chasing European football this season in a campaign where a few bad results can quickly see a team sink into the lower half of the table.

And while wins over the likes of Arsenal , City , and Liverpool this season have been significant for United this year it's games like Fulham at home – Sunday's upcoming fixture – that have often seen the Manchester side drop points.
