Tottenham in talks with Liverpool over signing defender Andy Robertson - and bringing to an end almost a decade at Anfield
Liverpool have received an approach from Tottenham for Andy Robertson, who is out of contract this summer.
Given the 31-year-old's contract situation, his stated desire to resolve his future and Liverpool's appreciation for the service he has given them, they have entered into preliminary discussions.
The club underline that these discussions are preliminary and no outcome has yet been reached.
Foremost in their thinking will be the best interests of Liverpool's squad and for Robertson who has been an outstanding servant since 2017.
Andy Robertson has played more than 260 Premier League games for Liverpool since joining from Hull City in 2017

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has earlier reiterated that the club remain attentive to transfer opportunities this window, but expects little activity over the next ten days.
Slot said: ‘Yeah that's what I expect. But, as I always say, if there's an opportunity in the market and we think we can strengthen the squad, this club will always try to do so.
‘But at this moment in time I expect it to stay mostly the same.’
Kostas Tsimikas could yet return from his loan at Roma amid interest from the likes of Nottingham Forest while the onus is on Aston Villa to resolve Harvey Elliott’s future.
