Oliver Glasner to leave Crystal Palace this summer as contract expires, eyes “new challenge” amid Man United links

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that he will leave Crystal Palace in the summer when his contract expires.

Glasner's deal at Selhurst Park expires at the end of the campaign and the Austrian has decided against signing a new deal.

The 51-year-old has been vocal in his unhappiness with the club's recruitment in recent windows, expressing a frustration at the Eagles' failure to build on last season's FA Cup success. At the weekend, Palace's defence of the FA Cup ended in the third round against non-league Macclesfield as a second-string team lost at Moss Rose.

Palace are currently 13th in the Premier League table as the club navigate the challenge of European competition this season.

Speaking to the media ahead of this weekend's clash at Sunderland, Glasner said the summer is the right time for a 'new challenge'.

“I already informed the club months ago that I wanted a new challenge," he said.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt coach has been linked with the vacant role at Manchester United . United sacked Ruben Amorim as their head coach earlier this month and are currently conducting a search for his successor.

Michael Carrick has been placed in interim charge until the end of the current campaign.

Glasner also confirmed that Marc Guehi will not feature at the Stadium of Light. He said that the defender's proposed move to Manchester City is at 'the final stages'.

Guehi's contract expires in the summer and Palace have opted to sell now, rather than lose the England international for free.
