Premier League star leaves field in tears after nightmare moment caught on TV

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper John Victor left the field in tears after injuring himself conceding a goal against Aston Villa . The Brazilian raced from his area in a futile attempt to reach the ball before Villa midfielder John McGinn and stayed down after McGinn slotted the ball into an empty net.

Villa had led 2-1 at the time, with Morgan Gibbs-White halving the deficit after goals from Ollie Watkins and Scotland star McGinn either side of the half-time break. The hosts' third goal left their opponents with a mountain to climb heading into the closing stages.

John Victor, a summer signing from Botafogo, had to wait until December for his first Premier League start. He kept his spot after Matz Sels returned from injury, but made way for the Belgian at Villa Park on Saturday.

Forest will face a wait to learn how long they will be without the 29-year-old. They have another important game just around the corner, with a trip to 18th place West Ham in midweek.

Before the substitution was confirmed, Sky Sports co-commentator Andy Hinchcliffe criticised Forest's keeper for the mistake. "John Victor, what on earth are you doing?" he said.

"Stay in your area, let your defenders recover. A terrible, terrible decision that may well have cost his team the game."
