Christian Norgaard is a transfer target for Ajax as they continue to seek midfield reinforcements after seeing a loan offer for Manuel Ugarte rejected by Manchester United .

The Dutch giants want to bolster their squad with a new No 6 and are admirers of Ugarte, who has struggled to replicate the form that convinced United to pay Paris Saint-Germain £42million for his services back in the summer of 2024. But after seeing a proposal to loan the midfielder knocked back, Ajax are now considering other options.

Among them is Norgaard, according to De Telegraaf , even though the Denmark international who only joined the Gunners from Brentford back in the summer.

Norgaard has had a dearth of first-team opportunities, though, with Arsenal hitting their stride in the Premier League . He's made just three appearances of the bench in the Premier League this term and played as an emergency centre-back in cup competitions.

Wataru Endo of Liverpool and West Ham 's Edson Alvarez are other players Ajax could target in their search for an experienced midfield enforcer.

While Ajax may be interested in trying to lure Norgaard to Amsterdam, Arsenal are unlikely to entertain the idea of a mid-season exit for the former Brentford star as they challenge on all fronts for silverware. Mikel Arteta also recently described him as one of the best trainers at the club.

One player who is poised to make the move from The Emirates to Ajax is Oleksandr Zinchenko , with the Ukraine left-back in talks to exit on a permanent basis.

The former Manchester City left-back joined Nottingham Forest on loan back in the summer but, like Norgaard, has found regular football hard to come by despite the club's struggles in the Premier League.

Ajax, though, are ready to offer him a chance to kickstart his career. The Sun claims that Zinchenko has already said his farewells to those within both the Arsenal and Nottingham Forest dressing rooms as his move draws closer.

Ethan Nwaneri has also been in talks over a move in the January window, though he will only head out on loan. The talented teenager travelled to Marseille earlier this week to put the finishing touches on his switch to Roberto De Zerbi's side.
