Arsenal are still ruining the opportunity they missed against Nottingham Forest. With Manchester United defeating Manchester City at Old Trafford, Mikel Arteta's men had the chance to put one hand on the Premier League trophy.

Victory against relegation-threatened Forest would have extended the Gunners' lead at the top of the table to nine points. However, they couldn't break down Sean Dyche's stubborn side and had to content themselves with just a point.

While they dealt with their creative frustrations, more transfer rumours surrounding the club are doing the rounds. Mirror Football takes a look at what those are;

Arsenal's hopes of signing Marc Guehi were ended by the Englishman's decision to join Man City. However, the Gunners did have an alternative to the Crystal Palace skipper in Rennes' young defender Jeremy Jacquet.

Unfortunately for them, Chelsea are now in the driving seat to snap him up this month, with Team Talk stating the Blues are happy to surpass the £52million Man City paid to sign Jeremy Doku, to make the 20-year-old their record sale.

If he is to choose Liam Rosenior's side, it would be a huge blow for the north Londoners. Fortunately for Arteta, central defence is an area where he is blessed with a variety of options.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes remain his two first choice options, while Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie, Cristhian Mosquera and Riccardo Calafiori are still at the club.

According to Caught Offside , Anthony Gordon's experience with Everton and Newcastle United has convinced Arsenal he is more than capable of starring for the north Londoners. The England international has been linked with the Gunners over the last few months.

In all competitions, he boasts eight goals and four assists and looks to be an ideal option, with Arteta reportedly in search for a new left-winger to join his side. The Gunners' hopes of signing him may also be boosted by Newcastle's desire to raise more transfer revenue so they can fall within Premier League PSR guidelines.

A couple of weeks ago, Gordon addressed links to himself and Liverpool . He appeared to suggest he was willing to commit his future to Newcastle by offering a flowing verdict on his time at St. James' Park.

He said: "It's probably been the best three years I've had in football and in life, too - so it's just a good time for me and my family. Hopefully there's many more appearances and success here, too!"
