Guardiola confirms Man City star wants to leave – and provides latest injury updates
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says winger Oscar Bobb wants to leave the club this month.
The Norway international has struggled for game time and has been linked with a January exit.
“I don’t know yet,” City’s boss answered on the speculation. “I know there are rumours, I know he is talking, but I don’t know right now.”
Asked if Bobb wants to leave, the Catalan simply replied: “I think so.”
Although it will not happen this month, City may also see their club captain depart at the end of the season. With his current contract expiring in the summer, Bernardo Silva has not put pen to paper on a new deal.
Guardiola maintained: “I would love for Man City , for myself as well, if Bernardo could to stay forever.
“But we spoke a lot with Bernie and Bernie has to decide the best for him and for his family.
“Whatever happens, this season, next season, in 10 years, he will remain one of the greatest players that this club has had in its long history.”
Silva is Guardiola’s most-used player during his entire managerial career and the Catalan continues to laud him. After City’s Premier League win against Wolves , Guardiola insisted: “Playing like he did today, he will be undroppable. Undroppable. I cannot.
“When I decide to play Bernardo in the team, I go to bed and I sleep better. I have to take care of my health, you know?
“He’s a competitor. He has fire in his eyes still. Hopefully he can contaminate and can inoculate this fire to the rest of the group.
“How he defends every single ball, how he reads what he has to do.
“And you know, the guy who creates excuses forgets his mistakes. And he never finds excuses. Never. And that’s why he’s a special, special player.”
Next up for City is a decisive match in the Champions League . The Blues will host Galatasaray on Wednesday night knowing that even a victory may not be enough to secure a top eight finish.
“We need our fans, we need them,” Guardiola admitted ahead of the crunch European night. “I know Marc (Guehi) cannot play, Antoine (Semenyo) cannot play, Rodri cannot play, apart from all the players that we have sidelined.
“Nico Gonzalez will not be ready and Savinho will not be ready and John Stones will not be ready.”
