6 possible Enzo Maresca replacements at Chelsea after bizarre rant

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca bizarrely broke rank following Saturday’s win against Everton . After what was a routine win for the Blues at Stamford Bridge, the Italian coach claimed that the past 48 hours had been “the hardest” since he joined the club.
Maresca then claimed that he was not receiving enough “support” from those around him - albeit stopped short of revealing exactly who he was talking about. Given Chelsea's approach when it comes to hiring and firing managers, it would not be a surprise should his comments have ruffled the feathers of those above him.
It might not immediately prompt the club hierarchy into a change in the dugout but some potential successors for Maresca might already be under consideration. There are a few routes that Chelsea could go down - whether that be to hire a manager already in work or indeed offer the job to someone unattached.
But who could potentially be in the conversation should Chelsea decide to do away with Maresca? Mirror Football takes a look…
A habitual winner, the Frenchman has been out of work since leaving for the second time in 2021. That’s not to say he hasn’t been linked with roles elsewhere though; Manchester United and the French national team have both reportedly been considering him in the past.
There’s no doubt that Zidane would bring a huge pedigree to West London. Zidane can boast three Champions League titles, two league titles and a host of other trophies.
Whether he fancies a move to West London remains to be seen but Zidane would certainly be a huge coup for the Blues.
Having been out of work since leaving his role as England boss, Southgate has regularly underlined the fact that he is not looking for a new job . But given the resources that would be on offer to him as Chelsea boss, it could prove to be a huge temptation.
Of course, Southgate has not managed in the Premier League in nearly two decades, his last role with Middlesbrough having come to an end in 2009.

Todd Boehly could potentially use his connections in football to secure one of the brightest young managers in world football should he choose to do so. Rosenior impressed in early roles with Derby County and Hull City before being appointed by French side Strasbourg in 2024.
And he has continued his upward trajectory since then, having helped them to seventh last season. Rosenior only signed a new deal earlier this year but given he is employed by BlueCo, any move for his services would be a relatively easy one.
Some may laugh at the prospect of Lampard returning to Stamford Bridge but it’s happened before. The iconic former midfielder has already had two spells in the dugout at Stamford Bridge.
And he’s certainly managed to rebuild his reputation since then. Lampard has Coventry City flying high at the top of the Championship and the Sky Blues look a great bet to seal a spot in the Premier League. He looks set to be in one of the dugouts at Stamford Bridge either way next season.

Another with connections in West London, Rodgers kicked off a successful career within the Chelsea academy. After working his way up through the ranks, he had impressive spells with Swansea City , Liverpool and Leicester City - winning the FA Cup with the latter.
Rodgers’ two spells with Celtic were also trophy-laden, something that may prove to be a huge attraction for Chelsea. Rodgers is also currently out of work, having left the Scottish giants under a cloud.
Somewhat of a left-field choice, Ten Hag was sacked by Man United last season despite having won the League Cup and FA Cup over a couple of years with the Red Devils.
He also saw a spell with German side Bayer Leverkusen ended in bizarre fashion, having been shown the door after just two league games.
That could put Chelsea off but as a cheap option with the promise of potential silverware, Ten Hag could emerge as a contender for the Blues.
