Mohamed Salah's Liverpool career could come to a crashing end as soon as January , according to Jamie Redknapp. The Egyptian superstar will not be content to sit on the bench at Anfield if the right club comes along, says the former Reds midfielder.

Things have not gone smoothly for Salah this season, and despite signing a new contract last term, he only has 18 months left on his deal. But after starting the most recent two Premier League matches from the bench, a rapid exit could apparently occur .

"He's a Premier League great, a Liverpool great, and that's why I don't think this is going to end well," he commented on Sky Sports . "It will be a difficult situation now because the manager, when you've got someone who is so good, so important to the team, in and around the dressing room and how they react and act in training.

"I'll be amazed if he sees out the last two years of his contract, or year and a half. I don't think this helps the situation one bit. Nothing will surprise me in football - whether it's in January or maybe in the summer.

"If the right club was to come around... a lot will be decided by this man. He's earned that right. And if he says: 'Look, if I'm not going to be a starter for you, I'm not one of those players who is going to hang around. I will go wherever it takes.' I still feel he will want to play in Europe.

"The first thing we're all going to say is he'll go to Saudi - he's obviously a legend in that part of the world - or he'll want to go to the US, but this for me now is a real breaking point in the relationship.

"He'll feel let down and, like you say, maybe even blamed for what's going on. But while the team is winning without him... I saw those stats and they're pretty good when he doesn't play."

So who could offer Salah the right opportunity? Before even getting into the finances of a move the forward will be at AFCON in December and January.

Regardless of Redknapp's claims, January would be a surprise, but perhaps things could open up in the summer. Mirror Football takes a look at some options.

Al Hilal still have Salah 'firmly on the radar', per ESPN, and Al Qadsiah have also enquired over a possible transfer. Salah and Liverpool have previously turned down approaches from the Middle East , but it remains an area with the financial means to get a deal done.

Salah would undoubtedly be a star for the league and could be rewarded handsomely, too. Though the Saudi Pro League is still largely perceived as a place where players can wind down their careers, Cristiano Ronaldo can only be the face for a short while longer.

Major League Soccer have proven to be flexible when it comes to bringing superstars to their league. Financing a move could be difficult but they did manage to land Lionel Messi .

And relative league newcomer San Diego appear to be the most likely candidates. The club have an Egyptian owner and they will sit ahead of Chicago, Miami or LAFC in the pecking order to secure Salah's signature, according to reports.

Redknapp notes that Salah may want to stay in Europe. The veteran has previously plied his trade for Fiorentina and Roma , which could be a sentimental option.

Galatasaray have been linked with a January move and have previously taken care of problem relationship. They took Victor Osimhen off of Napoli's hands on loan when required previously.

Looking at the summer, perhaps Barcelona could take a chance. They've added an ageing Robert Lewandowski to success before, and could find space with his contract set to expire. With a decision still to be made on Marcus Rashford's future, perhaps Salah could swoop in... if Barca can afford it.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
