Alan Shearer names Premier League's 'impossible job' as team's transfers hurt chances

Alan Shearer admits that the next Wolves manager will have a "nigh on impossible job of keeping them up" with the Midlands club still winless and looking for Vitor Pereira's replacement.
Wolves opted to axe the Portuguese boss last weekend after they were beaten at Fulham . It left them bottom of the table, without a win and they have just two points to their name after 10 points. Surviving from here would require them to make Premier League history.
The Molineux hierarchy have put caretakers James Collins and Richard Walker in charge for the trip to Stamford Bridge as their search goes on. Talks over a return for Gary O'Neil failed to materialise and Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards is now linked with the post.
Shearer admits whoever takes charge has a tough task ahead of them as he criticised the club for not replacing their two major summer exits - who recouped £93million between them.
He told Betfair ahead of their trip to west London: " Chelsea will have too much for Wolves. They were dreadful last weekend, and the manager paid the price by losing his job. They’re yet to appoint a manager. Whoever goes in there has a nigh on impossible job of keeping them up. I don’t see anyone in that squad who would give me hope of avoiding relegation.
"The club haven’t helped themselves at all by not replacing Cunha or Ait-Nouri. They can only blame themselves for lack of preparation, but I also don’t see enough fight or ability that tells me they can avoid relegation this year."
Cunha was Wolves' leading light last term and was consistently linked with a move away - he penned a new deal in January but it included a release clause which allowed Manchester United to pounce. Ait-Nouri meanwhile headed to the blue half of Manchester.

Wolves have been in the top flight since their promotion in 2018 but have now had to embrace relegation fears in successive seasons. Only last week they were beaten in the Carabao Cup by Chelsea in a seven-goal thriller - another loss in the league could see them fall further adrift from the pack.
As things stand Wolves are eight points from safety. Pereira's sacking came only 45 days after he signed a new three-year contract at Wolves, which he penned when they were bottom of the league. The Molineux outfit remain the only winless side in England's top four division.
