Former Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho doesn't regret the way things ended for him at Old Trafford. The Argentina international is attempting to rebuild his career at Chelsea after a summer move, and appears to be looking forward not back.

Garnacho looked to be ready for a new start after being left out of the starting XI for last season's Europa League final . He has been given a taste of Champions League action with his new employers after completing a deadline day switch and spoke to reporters ahead of a midweek meeting with Atalanta.

During the pre-match press conferences, Garnacho was asked if he regretted the way things ended at the club which handed him a Premier League debut. A simple 'no' was his answer, with the winger maintaining the decision to move to Stamford Bridge made perfect sense.

"Sometimes in life, you have to change things to take a step forward or to improve as a player," Garnacho said on Monday. "This was the right club and [moving] was an easy decision."

Garnacho, 21, scored his first Chelsea goal in October in a Premier League defeat to Sunderland . He also opened his Champions League account for the club the following month during a draw with Qarabag, and has opened up about the impact of Blues boss Enzo Maresca on his game.

"He explained to me everything and now working together, I think we are doing well," Garnacho said of Maresca. "We are going to improve with time, it’s just three months together, and he trusts me and that is the most important thing, to have confidence, and I’m going to improve.

"The most important thing is confidence. He speaks with me every week and I think we are going to be better, me as a player and the team all together, with time. We started the season just three months ago so it’s building confidence between the manager and the players."

While Garnacho waits for his latest taste of Champions League football, his former employers are attempting to make the most of having no European commitments themselves. Ruben Amorim's United survived a scare to beat bottom-of-the-table Wolves on Monday night and now sit level on points with Chelsea.

Bruno Fernandes put United in front early on, only for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to equalise on the stroke of half-time. The visitors stepped things up in the second half, though, winning after Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount both netted before Fernandes grabbed his second of the night.

"I think we started the game really well," head coach Amorim told Sky Sports . "We scored a goal and we let Wolves a little bit get back into the game. We suffered in the last play of the first half but in the second half we had good pace, good quality in the decisions. We finished the game and Wolves is in one difficult moment. It was a good evening."
