Amorim hints at possible system change at Man Utd

After more than one year in the job, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has suggested that he may change his system for the first time.

The Portuguese coach has previously been resolute in his stance that he will not divert from his favoured 3-4-3 system.

“No one, not even the Pope will change (my system),” Amorim insisted back in September. “This is my job, this is my responsibility, this is my life – so, I will not change that.”

His stubbornness and belief in the system has often been questioned and criticised during his tenure. However, his faith in the formation has shown no signs of wavering – until now.

“That is for you to discuss, not for me,” Amorim answered when asked if his side switched to four at the back during their draw with Bournemouth. “I will say the same thing. You can play with the same players and it looks like one thing but it is another thing.

“Now, guys, it’s for you… I know that you guys know that I trained this week the back four.

“I don’t know how, but that is a good thing for you guys to discuss this week.”

It was another disappointing home match for the manager, as his side were held to a draw again . There was no shortage of entertainment though, as the eight-goal thriller ended 4-4.

Amorim admitted: “It was a fun game for everyone at home.”

United did lead on three separate occasions in the match, although they also found themselves behind for a period.

“I think we lost, if you look at the game, you can think that we lost the two points in the second half.

“I think we lost the two points in the first half. We should have more goals. It should be a different result in the half-time.”
