Arne Slot behaviour blasted 'disrespectful' and 'classless' amid Liverpool crisis

Paul Scholes has labelled Arne Slot's decision to visit Ibiza before last season was over as 'disrespectful' and 'classless'. He also claims that their current run of bad form began at the end of 2024/25.
Slot managed to clinch the Premier League title in his first season with the Reds last term, but the club has looked a shell of its former self this time round. At the time of writing, Liverpool have lost six of their last seven league matches, and languish in 12th in the English top flight's standings.
For context, they are also 11 points shy of table toppers, Arsenal , after 12 matches. And now, Scholes has explained that Slot has got a number of things wrong as his chances of defending Liverpool's league title get slimmer and slimmer by the day. Slot was spotted in a DJ booth in O Beach back in May, seemingly celebrating Liverpool's title win, despite having two matches left to play.
And Scholes has criticised the Dutchman's decision to do so, while highlighting that the club's poor run of form started towards the back end of last season. Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football with Nicky Butt and Paddy McGuinness , the Manchester United legend said: "I think this started towards the end of last season.
"Remember when they won the league? The bad form started. They went away, weren't they in Ibiza or something? Arne Slot was DJing. Yeah, he was DJing in Ibiza. I think that's disrespectful. Before the season's done, I think it's classless, that."
While Scholes didn't claim that the trip to Ibiza was the catalyst of Liverpool's downfall this term, he did explain that they should have seen tough times ahead given the amount of goals they have shipped. He added: "No, the season wasn't over and they finished the season quite poorly.
"Look, we have a night out, course we do - when you win the league, it's brilliant. We used to have a night with our families, didn't we? One night with our family and one night on our own.

"And for them to go to Ibiza before the season's finished...You can look back and I'm not saying that's the problem, of course I'm not, but I think it just lacked a little bit of class. And the form went. Look, I know they'd won the league already, it's done, but they weren't really in anything else.
"And then they've started this season badly as well. Now look, I know they've won a lot of their games, but they're conceding loads of goals and you could see this coming. They've lost six out of their last seven games, league games."
Slot, meanwhile, spoke about the trip in an interview with the BBC back in May. He said: "I was at a place where people are 'partying'. We were there with a few of our staff members. It's not so easy if people recognise you and constantly film you, 'to party.' So that is one of the things that has changed in my life."
While a number of pundits have been quick to blame poor performances from Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate this season, Butt claimed that poor choices in attack have left Liverpool languishing in the standings as of late. He explained: "I think for me, with Slot, I think he's bought players - or the club's bought players - and for me, they're playing them when they don't deserve to play.

"So [Alexander] Isak , for instance. [Hugo] Ekitike , how's he not playing every game? He's been their best player from the start. Start of the season, scoring goals, and I'm only looking at it from my thought process. If I'm playing well, I think I should be playing, no matter who comes into that football club.
"If you're playing well, it's their job to knock you off your perch. Now if you drop off that level, 10 per cent, 5 per cent, whatever it is, the manager's quite right to put this new signing in. But if you're playing like he was playing at the start of the season, and you're getting dropped, it doesn't feel right, that."
Scholes then replied: "They're not getting a lot of things right are they? I don't think he can get the midfield right. When you're winning leagues, you normally have quite a settled team. Especially in the middle of the pitch.
"You don't know which three... probably [Ryan] Gravenberch is going to play with two others, you just don't know what's going to happen. The right-back, never replaced Trent [Alexander-Arnold] . Conor Bradley , but again, you've been playing [Dominik] Szoboszlai right-back, and just haven't got it right."
