Arsenal could sign bargain Kai Havertz replacement after nightmare injury and £21m agreement

Arsenal look set to go into the market for a new forward following the injury to Kai Havertz .

Havertz was not spotted in Arsenal's latest training session, while Christian Norgaard and Ben White were also nowhere to be seen during Wednesday's open training session.

As a result, it has been speculated that Arsenal could be forced to go into the transfer market to sign a new forward before the September 1 deadline.

While the severity of Havertz's injury has not been stated, it has been claimed that signing a new striker has become a real possibility.

One player who could prove to be a bargain option for the Gunners is Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serbia international is reportedly expected to become a free agent in the near future with an exit from Al-Hilal potentially on the cards.

Reports in recent weeks have claimed that Al-Hilal may look to terminate Mitrovic's contract in order to make room in their squad for an overseas player after recently signing Darwin Nunez from Liverpool.

However, this would reportedly cost the Saudi Pro League club €25million (£21.7million) to pay off the remaining money in Mitrovic's contract, which is set to expire next year.

If Al-Hilal do decide to terminate Mitrovic's contract, it would see the striker become a free agent and able to sign for a new club without the need for a transfer fee.

As a result, it could offer the Gunners an opportunity to bring the 30-year-old back to the Premier League and boost their forward options at the same time.

Mitrovic enjoyed an impressive spell at Fulham before moving to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023. During his time at Craven Cottage, the striker scored 111 goals in 206 appearances and also has 68 to his name across 79 outings for Al-Hilal.
