Arsenal's injured stars giving their triumphant team a guard of honour following the north London derby says it all about the club's current culture. The Gunners ran out dominant 4-1 winners over Tottenham at the weekend, with summer signing Eberechi Eze marking his first derby start with a hat-trick .

Leandro Trossard grabbed the other goal, and despite a phenomenal 50-yard strike from Richarlison , Spurs were forced to leave the Emirates Stadium empty-handed.

The Independent reports that following that display, the absentees from the Arsenal squad - which included Gabriel, Martin Odegaard and Viktor Gyokeres - headed to the changing rooms early to applaud their teammates in.

This show of support and respect speaks to the culture that has formed under Mikel Arteta and could be the foundation for the north London outfit to finally win the Premier League trophy again. For the last three seasons, the Gunners have finished second to either Manchester City or Liverpool .

However, with a six-point gap opened up at the top and the likes of Liverpool languishing in 11th place, this year could be the one for Arteta's side to finally be crowned champions.

Speaking after the derby, the Spanish boss was full of praise for his squad in what he said was a "day to remember," adding: "Well, a great day. I enjoyed every minute of it, from the preparation, since the moment that the players came back from international duty.

"I sensed a feeling that they wanted to be together again, that they were ready for a fight, they were ready for a big week, and the preparation was top.

"Then you have to deliver it, obviously, with the energy that our people brought to the stadium. It made a huge difference. I think individually the players were exceptional from minute one.

"They were super dominant in almost every phase of the play. So, yeah, a day to remember. You don't win a derby 4-1 every time, and hopefully we made a lot of Arsenal supporters very proud and happy."

The Gunners have a tough week coming up with an undefeated Bayern Munich visiting London as well as a trip to a tricky Stamford Bridge at the weekend. However, Arteta believes his squad will take the positives from the Spurs win into Europe and aims to end the week on another high.

"We have to make sure we carry that energy back to the stadium tomorrow, to each individual, and play with the same dominant aggression and efficiency against a top side," he said.

"We have the same intention to win it, we've had a really good preparation again, a really short one, but we've been very efficient as well.

"We know the importance of the match, we are in a really strong position, we want to maintain that for sure and we know that we have a beautiful and very demanding game ahead of us."
