Aston Villa open talks for teenage Brazilian winger with Premier League high-flyers braced for renewed interest in Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa are in talks with Gremio over winger Alysson.

Brazilian sources say Villa's initial discussions have centred on an £8.7million offer for the 19-year-old with a further £2.2m to follow in bonus payments. Around £3.4m has been discussed as a down payment.

Villa scouts have been following the skilful forward for some months and were spotted at Gremio's defeat to Cruzeiro last month.

Villa's recruitment team Roberto Olabe and Damian Vidagany are looking to strengthen attacking options for the future with the possibility Ollie Watkins and others could yet depart.

Watkins turns 30 at the end of this month and continues to generate interest from Premier League rivals and from abroad as suitors hold hope they can prise him away for around £40m or less.

Villa had enquired about Samu Aghehowa at Porto in the summer as well as Chelsea 's Nicolas Jackson .

A deal for Alysson at Gremio is viewed as a good opportunity with the Brazilian club vulnerable to suitable offers.

Alysson has been with Gremio since he was 10 and was promoted to the senior side last year, he has a contract which runs until the end of 2029.

This season, he has played 39 matches for the senior squad, with two goals and three assists, in addition to having played for the U20 side.

He scored in the 3-2 victory over arch-rivals Internacional, in Brazilian Serie A in September.
