Benjamin Sesko injury update as Manchester United 'prepare statement'

Fears have raised over the striker and comments from his Slovenia team-mate

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is expected to withdraw from international duty, raising fears over an injury picked up against Tottenham at the weekend.

The £74 million summer signing came off the bench during the second half on Saturday but was unable to see out the game, which ended in a 2-2 draw, following a challenge from Micky van de Ven.

Sesko sat on the pitch, grimacing, while clutching his knee cap as the United medical staff gave him treatment. The striker was deemed unable to continue and went straight down the tunnel.

Asked for an update after the game, United head coach Ruben Amorim said: "Because it's the knee, we never know. I'm concerned with the injury because it's in the knee.

"We need Ben to be a better team. We have to check everything, we have to check what has happened with Ben."

Sesko is now expected to withdraw from international duty, with fellow Slovenia striker Andraz Sporar reportedly admitted: "We will have to do without him."

United are expected to issue an update on Sesko's fitness on Monday.

It was a third injury blow for United from the same game after Harry Maguire was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury and Casemiro’s game was also ended prematurely due to a fitness concern.
