Boost for Liverpool? Bayern ‘complicated’ transfer plans for £86.7m attacker revealed

Bayern Munich came from behind to thrash RB Leipzig 5-1 in their previous Bundesliga game away at Red Bull Arena.

Leipzig were outstanding in the first half, and created several goal-scoring opportunities, with Yan Diomande particularly impressing.

The 19-year-old terrorised the Bayern defence and could have got a goal to his name, only for Manuel Neuer to produce a world-class save to deny him .

Diomande joined Leipzig in the summer of 2025 on a five-year deal from Leganes.

The exciting attacker took no time to settle in at his new club and has scored six goals and provided two assists in 16 Bundesliga appearances.

The youngster has terrific pace, dribbling ability, and an eye for picking passes, making him an attractive player.

Capable of playing on both flanks, Diomande is far from a finished product, but he has the potential to become a top-class player in the future.

Bayern have been linked with a move for Diomande next summer , as they are looking to bolster the left side of the pitch.

The Bild journalist said :

“It’s a complicated situation with Yan Diomande (19), as Bayern already have a number one starter in this position in Diaz.

“So, do they want to spend over €100m [£86.7m] for a player who they’re not sure will start ahead of the Colombian?

“He’s a teenager and a big talent, so Bayern will try something, but I don’t think they’re going to spend so much money on him. Don’t forget that Diomande mentioned he has a dream club he’d love to play for: that’s Liverpool.”

Despite signing Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, Liverpool could still be looking to bolster their attacking options next summer.

Diomande could be seen as a natural successor to Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, but any potential transfer will depend on their budget and whether Arne Slot remains in charge.
