Liverpool were downed by a late Bournemouth sucker punch as Amine Adli's strike secured a dramatic 3-2 win.
Evanilson struck midway through the first half to give Bournemouth the lead, before Alex Jimenez doubled the home side's advantage with a clinical finish. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk gave the Reds a lifeline on the stroke of half time.
And that proved to be just the platform that Liverpool needed, with Szoboszlai converting late on to seemingly secure a share of the points. A late throw-in caused havoc however, with Adli converting for the home side to secure victory. It leaves Arne Slot 's side sitting fourth, with a one-point advantage over Manchester United .
Bournemouth in the meantime are now 13th. Here are all of the talking points from the Vitality Stadium:

Liverpool's inability to keep the ball out of the net has proven to be their undoing time and again this season. And the vulnerable nature of their defence ended up costing them on the South Coast.
A long ball from Marcos Senesi was not dealt with by captain Virgil van Dijk, with Alex Scott picking it up on the right side of the penalty area. He then had the simple task of cutting it across to Brazilian forward Evanilson who slammed home.
It was Bournemouth's first opening of the game and Slot will be furious that such a lack of concentration from his captain saw his side fall behind.

Alex Jimenez has been one of Bournemouth 's unsung heroes this season, having joined on loan from AC Milan. Bournemouth have an obligation to buy come the end of that agreement.
They will be thankful they do following his performances - his latest impressive outing coming against Liverpool. He even found himself on the scoresheet for the first time as a Cherry as he ghosted in behind former Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez and fired home underneath Alisson .
There was a brief check for offside but VAR eventually gave the goal. Slot was also left furious after his side were unable to introduce a substitute for stricken defender Joe Gomez, which Liverpool left with ten men before the second goal.
After his error in Bournemouth's opening goal, Van Dijk really needed a response. And that's exactly what he provided minutes before the break.
The Dutchman evaded his marker from a corner and nodded a brilliant header into the far corner of the net. It was the 34-year-old's third goal of the season, albeit his first in the Premier League .

If recent speculation is to be believed, Liverpool might not have Andrew Robertson 's services to call upon for much longer. Reports have suggested that Tottenham are in talks with the Reds over a deal for the left-back.
But given the events at the Vitality Stadium, Liverpool might change their minds. Summer signing Kerkez endured a difficult opening half and was replaced by Robertson.
While Mo Salah started in Liverpool's 3-0 win against Marseille in midweek, his outing against Bournemouth represented his first Premier League appearance for Liverpool since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
And it wasn't a particularly positive one as Salah really struggled to get involved throughout the evening. His touch appeared to desert him in the key moments and he appeared to be on a different wavelength to a few of his teammates. That was until...
So often this season, Szoboslzai has been the man to go for for Liverpool. He's been really the only one putting in consistently high-standard performances.
His knack to score a key goal has also been a very useful asset to Slot and that was on show once again against Bournemouth.
Liverpool won a free kick on the edge of the area, with Salah nudging the ball to Szoboszlai, who arrowed an effort into the top corner. You have to wonder where Liverpool would be without the Hungarian.
It looked as though Szoboszlai's goal had secured a point at least for Liverpool but Bournemouth had other ideas. Long throw ins have proven to be a profitable weapon in the Premier League this season, and Bournemouth were the latest to take advantage.
A late throw caused chaos in the Liverpool box. The ball bounced off of the post, with Alisson failing to gather, while Adli was in the right place to prod home.
The Liverpool players were left questioning the goal but those appeals fell on deaf ears.
