Chelsea have reduced their asking price for Manchester United to sign Christopher Nkunku this summer, according to reports.

Nkunku has struggled to secure a regular role at Chelsea since his £52 million move from RB Leipzig in 2023 .

The 27-year-old started just nine games in the Premier League last season and was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s win against Real Betis in the Conference League final in May .

United, meanwhile, remain in the market for a new forward to bolster Ruben Amorim’s attacking options having already signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo .

According to The Athletic , Chelsea had initially valued Nkunku at £65m at the start of the transfer window but the FIFA Club World Cup champions would now be ready to accept a £43m offer.

United had considered signing Nkunku in the January transfer window but the French forward turned down a potential loan move .

Arsenal and Bayern Munich also enquired about Nkunku in January but did not follow up their interest with Chelsea.

Speaking at the Club World Cup last month, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca refused to rule out the prospect of keeping Nkunku next season.

‘If Christo is here with us, it is because we think he can help us and he can be with us even next season,’ Maresca said.

‘But as you said, there are many speculations, not just about Christo, about many players.

‘And then if something is going to happen, I don’t know because we said many times when the transfer window is open, anything can happen in terms of players that can arrive or players that can leave.’
