Chiesa's Late Heroics Save Liverpool in 3-2 Thriller vs Bournemouth

Federico Chiesa ‘s career at Liverpool seemed set to come to an end before it had started. Last season, the Italian played just 104 minutes in the Premier League and had been expected to depart this summer.

However, Chiesa was the unlikely man of the moment to save the champions on opening night. Introduced with 10 minutes to go after Liverpool had blown a 2-0 lead at home to Bournemouth, Chiesa converted his first Premier League goal to snatch the three points for the Reds.

Debuts don’t go much better than this. Tijjani Reijnders was magnificent as Manchester City opened their campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Wolves at Molineux. Involved throughout, a sublime solo run and lofted pass created the opener, before he marked his first appearance in England with a perfect finish passed into the far corner.

He added an assist for Erling Haaland to make it three and showed all the quality that saw him named Serie A Midfielder of the Year last season. A class act.
