Cristiano Ronaldo will not follow an important tradition at his wedding to Georgina Rodríguez

I n Cristiano Ronaldo 's recent interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, the captain of the Portuguese national team confirmed that he wants to marry Georgina Rodriguez after soccer's biggest tournament: the FIFA World Cup.

With his ticket to participate in this event secured, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner continues with the preparations for the big day, but he would break with an old tradition.

CR7 and Georgina will not follow the rules on their wedding day

After almost a decade together, Cristiano proposed to his girlfriend in August 2025 , and Georgina shared the news on her official Instagram account with a photo of her hand wearing a stunning engagement ring with a large diamond.

Now, amid preparations for their wedding, it has been revealed that the ceremony will not take place in Argentina, Rodríguez's native country , as is customary. According to the Portuguese media outlet Correio da Manhã , CR7 wants to get married in Madeira , his native island.

It has also been reported that the couple plans to hold an intimate ceremony, which will take place after the World Cup but before the start of the next Saudi league season.

The Al Nassr captain met Rodríguez in 2016 , when Cristiano walked into a Gucci store in Madrid where Georgina was working. She was the one who served him, and it was love at first sight. In November of that same year, they confirmed their relationship.

Cristiano Ronaldo already had a son, Cristiano Jr ., before meeting Georgina, but she considers him another son, as she writes " Mom of 6 blessings " in her Instagram description.

A year after beginning their romance, in 2017, they welcomed twins Eva and Mateo (conceived through surrogacy) and their first daughter together, Alana Martina . In April 2022, they welcomed their daughter Bella Esmeralda , but suffered the loss of one of the twins, Angel , which affected the family deeply but also strengthened them.

In the interview with Morgan, CR7 revealed that it was his daughters who encouraged him to take the long-awaited step and propose to Georgina , something he recalled with obvious emotion.

Meanwhile, Cristiano and Al Nassr are preparing to face FC Istiklol Dushanbe in the fifth match of the AFC Cup group stage on Wednesday, November 26 .
