Declan Rice could be available for Arsenal ’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday.

The Gunners midfielder missed the Champions League victory over Club Brugge midweek through illness.

Rice has been ever-present in Mikel Arteta ’s starting XI this season, suffering a calf injury in the win over Brentford last week only to return against Aston Villa three days later.

The England international hopes to take his place in midfield again this weekend for the visit of the Premier League’s bottom club.

But speaking at a press conference on Friday, Arteta revealed no final decision has been made yet.

‘Let’s see how it is today, Arteta said. ‘That’s an illness. We have to wait to see how far he can push.’

Jurrien Timber was another to miss the game in Belgium on Wednesday as a result of a ‘bad kick’ in the defeat to Aston Villa.

Riccardo Calafiori was also on the end of some rough treatment but was deemed fit enough for the bench against Club Brugge.

That game was too early for Timber and the Netherlands international remains a doubt for the visit of Wolves.

‘Depends how he feels today,’ Arteta said. ‘Again, a matter of days. Whether it’s tomorrow or not I don’t know.’

William Saliba has not featured since picking up a knock in training that ruled him out of the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the end of November.

With Gabriel Magalhaes already sidelined until the end of December and Cristhian Mosquera picking up an ankle injury, Arsenal have been short of options at the back with Christian Norgaard filling in midweek.
