Erling Haaland's girlfriend complains about his love for football as Man City star insists on watching rivals Man United after dinner at Cheshire home
Erling Haaland 's long-term girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen has hilariously complained about his love for football after the Manchester City star insisted on watching Manchester United after dinner at their home in Cheshire.
The Manchester City striker, 25, and his partner Johansen, 22, are believed to have first met during their mutual time spent in the ranks of Byrne's youth teams in their native Norway.
Johansen became a regular fixture on the sidelines amid Haaland's move to the Etihad at the start of the 2022-23 season, and the pair welcomed their first child, a son, together last December.
But despite their long-lasting connection, Haaland was unafraid to admit that there were moments in their relationship were they might not have exactly shared the same viewpoint.
When appearing on Gary Lineker 's The Rest Is Football podcast this week, Haaland was asked by co-host Alan Shearer how often he watched football away from his own game, and whether he studied the sport.
'Yeah, I’m a football fan, so I watch all kinds of football,' Haaland replied. 'Actually, yesterday, we were eating dinner and I checked if there were any games.

The Man City star met his long-term partner while they were playing in Byrne's youth ranks

'Man United, West Ham’s on, let’s put it on. My missus said, "I'm so sick of football. We watch it all the time."
'I’m like "yeah, that’s the reason we are sitting here." So we watched it, obviously,' he added.
Haaland has previously given fans a glimpse of his private life with the launching of his YouTube channel earlier this season.
In the films shared to the channel since its launch this autumn, Haaland is seen cooking for Johansen - with his girlfriend providing a Bearnaise sauce for their tomahawk steaks - and discussing their relationship in depth.
'She remembers many times that she's seen me [when we were younger], but I don't!' Haaland teased his partner in one clip.
Haaland then referenced his viral music video, which he rapped in alongside his friends Erik Sandberg and Erik Botheim - and was seen at the time by Johansen.
The trio performed under the name 'Flow Kingz', with Haaland rapping as he held BBQ utensils in his playhouse.
And Johansen reveals she actually liked one of his friends before 'changing her view after I saw you'.

The couple recently invited fans into their home with the launch of Haaland's YouTube series

'I do think it's fate, but you don't,' she told Haaland in the video.
In September, Haaland had previously revealed how he and Johansen spend their evenings - when there's no football to be watched.
'I cook,' Haaland said. 'This will probably sound a bit embarrassing to her, but she likes to play [games].
'So we play Minecraft together. We build houses and all that.'
