‘Expect United…’: INEOS to reignite interest in England star as ‘pretty much wrapped up’ claim made

Manchester United have been tipped to try their luck for Marc Guehi ahead of his contract expiring next summer.

The Crystal Palace captain will be on the move when 2025/2026 comes to a close, with manager Oliver Glasner already confirming the player’s desire to explore a new venture after four years at Selhurst Park.

United fans might recall that the club previously held an interest in Guehi throughout his Palace tenure , but nothing ever materialised.

He has since continued to be linked with a host of suitors, more recently Liverpool, whom he was on the verge of joining in the summer until the deal collapsed on deadline day due to Palace failing to acquire his replacement.

It’s anticipated Liverpool will reignite their pursuit as soon as the 25-year-old becomes a free agent; some reports in Spain (as relayed by Empire of the Kop ) have even gone as far as claiming the deal is ‘pretty much wrapped up’ between all parties, with Guehi rebuffing approaches from Barcelona and Real Madrid in the process.

The English media clearly doesn’t believe he’s Anfield-bound, however, as MailSport’s Nathan Salt stated in his report on Tuesday: “Expect United to be watching Guehi’s situation.”

This comes amid contract talks with Harry Maguire reaching something of a roadblock, as the 32-year-old centre-half also has just six months remaining on his deal.

Whether Maguire signs a short-term extension or not, defensive reinforcements will be necessary at Old Trafford next year, and you couldn’t get a more suitable fit than a young, Premier League-proven option like Palace’s stalwart skipper – not to mention he’ll be available for nothing.
