‘I believe United’s interest…’: David Ornstein drops pre-game Antoine Semenyo to Old Trafford bombshell

David Ornstein has confirmed that, as far as he’s aware, Manchester United retain their interest in Antoine Semenyo .

It comes after the transfer expert was the first to break the news last week that Semenyo’s contract with Bournemouth contains a £65 million release clause, which will become active in the winter transfer window.

However, the forward’s suitors will only have until a certain date in January to activate the clause in order to allow Bournemouth ample time to sign a replacement.

Back in the summer, United held talks with the Ghanaian over a potential switch to Old Trafford, with reports even suggesting that Ruben Amorim met with Semenyo personally to gauge where his head was at .

He eventually decided to extend his deal with the Cherries, putting pen to paper on a five-year bumper contract at the start of July.

In a summer that saw the Dorset outfit ransacked with outgoings, with the likes of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez and Illia Zabarnyi all being sold, keeping hold of their attacking talisman was the best piece of business they could’ve done.

Now, however, there are doubts as to whether he’ll even see out the season at the Vitality Stadium.

Semenyo’s stellar start to 2025/2026 has seen him become one of the hottest players on the market heading into the transfer period – and Ornstein believes United could well be among the mix for his signature in two months’ time.

“I believe Manchester United’s interest in Antoine Semenyo remains strong. It is said that interested clubs include Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham,” said the journalist on NBC Sports ahead of tonight’s game.

“But I have no knowledge of them taking any action at this time. We are also unsure of the player’s preference at the moment.”
