Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye was shown a stranger red card after 'slapping' teammate Michael Keane during the club's Premier League win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Senegal international was involved in a heated exchange with his own defender after the Toffees gave a chance to Bruno Fernandes to give United the lead. That chance was not taken, but in the aftermath a coming together between Gueye and Keane saw the former appear to 'slap' the latter in the face.
The incident was in front of referee Tony Harrington, who quickly showed a straight red card to the Everton man for violent conduct. As he was shown the card, the confrontation continued with Everton's Jordan Pickford and Iliman Ndiaye forced to intervene to calm things down.
Gueye was eventually led away and towards the tunnel by Ndiaye. He will now serve a three-game ban .
Despite being down to 10 men, Everton took the lead in the first half through a brilliant strike from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. It's an advantage that they would hold on to until the full-time whistle with the Toffees taking an unlikely three points from the game.
