Inter Miami claims Luis Suarez's ban is a precedent for re-refereeing

Luis Suarez will miss the crucial game 3 between Inter Miami and Nashville SC due to a controversial suspension

The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee sanctioned the Uruguayan for "violent conduct" during Game 2 of the first round of the MLS Playoffs , where Nashville won 2-1

What is most striking about this 'punishment' is that the play that cost Suarez the suspension was reviewed by the VAR and the Inter striker did not receive a yellow card for it .

The action that caused Suarez's sanction occurred in the 71st minute, when the Uruguayan striker reacted with what could be considered a small kick or a natural soccer play.

A suspension for this seems like an extreme punishment.

Inter Miami's statement

Inter Miami CF accepts and respects the decision made by the MLS Disciplinary Committee.

At the same time, the club wishes to express its concern at the precedent set by re-refereeing an incident that had already been judged by the referees and the VAR, and its confidence that the same criteria will be applied in the future to all situations that arise on the field of play, in any match and with any team involved.

The decisive MLS playoff match between Inter Miami and Nashville SC is scheduled for Saturday, November 8 at 20:00 (ET) .
