Joao Palhinha has indicated he wants to stay at Tottenham despite reiterating the final decision rests with the club's hierarchy. The 30-year-old is currently on loan from Bayern Munich but the Europa League champions can trigger a £27million clause to make the move permanent next summer.

Palhinha said when quizzed on his future: “They should ask to the owner, or Fabio [Paratici], or Johan [Lange], not myself! Of course, this is like a marriage. Both parts need to want [it].

“But I am really glad here. I feel the support from the supporters as well. When you feel this, for me it is really special. We have until the end of the season. We have a lot of things to happen. You know how it is in football. I just want to enjoy the time that I am here. Let’s see what is going to happen."

The former Fulham man has been a mainstay in the middle of the park for Thomas Frank and has also chipped in with four goals in all competitions against Manchester City , Wolves , Doncaster and Copenhagen.

Palhinha also revealed he had other offers from the Premier League this summer, adding: “I had a lot of opportunities to join Premier League clubs this summer, I remember.
