Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee has expressed his gratitude to his teammates for their support during his goal drought. The Dutch forward finally found the back of the net after an agonising eight-month wait, scoring a crucial equaliser in United's Premier League win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
His last goal for the club came in April against Lyon in the Europa League - with his most recent Premier League goal dating back nearly a year. Zirkzee's strike sparked a comeback for United, who rallied from behind to snatch three points at Selhurst Park.
The victory propelled Ruben Amorim's squad above their rivals in the Premier League standings, putting them in sixth place. And his forward was naturally delighted.
During a post-match interview with TNT Sports , Zirkzee couldn't hide his joy - at both the goal and the win. "It's a great feeling, you know, it's always a good feeling to score but most importantly it got us back into the game, this guy (Mason Mount) scored a pretty good goal after as well," he said.
"It was all about the three points today. I'm just very happy that we got them, very important."
When asked about the strain of not scoring while playing for United, he admitted: "It's one of the biggest clubs in the world and you have to perform. So, if you don't score for a long time, then it can get to you.
"But I'm surrounded by great players, great people and we help each other every day and they made it quite easy for me. It was all about the three points today, just very happy that we got them, very important."

He added: "Today is just a reward, I think, for patience, for hard work and trying to be consistent and I'm just thankful to the manager as well, staff, everyone. A good environment.
Midfielder Mason Mount , who netted what proved to be the decisive goal from a free-kick, praised his side's resilience in overturning the deficit.
"We've not found it easy away from home this season, obviously a very difficult result last game (a 1-0 loss vs Everton), so we know we needed to bounce back and that's what we spoke about before the game," he said.
"I think we showed good character to come back from 1-0 down in the first half. It was about reacting in the changing room in the second half.
"I thought we came out and we were really good. We were at it."
Mount continued: "I'm feeling good, the win was massive today but, also, for me to play the full game, I haven't done that in a while.
