Liverpool fans make feelings clear as Arne Slot calls vindicated

2025 has been a big year for Liverpool and Arne Slot , who lifted the Premier League trophy back in May. Unfortunately, though, their attempts to retain the domestic crown have not quite gone to plan.
The Reds are 10 points behind Arsenal at Christmas after losing six of their 17 Premier League games so far this season. That's despite spending over £400million in the summer transfer market to try and evolve the team that Slot guided to glory in his maiden campaign at the helm.
With 2025 now drawing to a close, Mirror Football asked Liverpool fans on our WhatsApp channel were asked to name their Player of the Year for 2025 - and the overwhelming winner was Dominik Szoboszlai .
He beats Mohamed Salah to the award, with the Egypt star struggling for form this season after racking up outrageous numbers to fire Liverpool to the title in the 2024-25 campaign.
Alisson , Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch were the other options put to fans - but it was Szoboszlai, who has been played at both right-back and, more recently, on the right wing, who was named top of the pops.

Although eyebrows have been raised when Szoboszlai has been used out of position by Slot - with the Hungary international a regular in the midfield that won the title last year - the player's ultra consistency has made him an absolute must-pick - even as the Dutchman tries to strike a new balance to integrate Florian Wirtz , one of the club's big summer signings.
While it remains to be seen if Liverpool and Szoboszlai will be able to chase down Arsenal and Manchester City in the title race, the midfielder signed from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 has had a stellar 12 months - and there should still be plenty more to come.
