Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler believes the Reds will have a trio of stars on their shortlist to replace the ageing Mohamed Salah , including one Everton player. The 33-year-old was one of the standout performers for Arne Slot's side last season as they romped to the Premier League title.

The Egyptian scored a remarkable 34 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions, setting up a further 23 goals for his team-mates. However, Salah has struggled to hit the same heights this season with just five goals and three assists in 16 games so far this season.

There have been plenty questions around Liverpool's dip in form, with Salah one of a number of high profile stars to have received criticism.

The Liverpool winger has struggled since signing fresh terms ahead of the current campaign. His contract at Anfield was set to expire ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season, but signed a new contract with the Reds to extend his stay.

Salah's current deal expires in the summer of 2027, and the Reds are being linked with a number of potential replacements for when he eventually leaves the club.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo – who has a £65m release clause which becomes active in January – has been repeatedly linked with a move to Anfield as Salah's successor and has impressed for Andoni Iraola's side again this season.

Former Reds striker, Fowler, says it's no surprise to see the Ghana international linked with a move to Anfield given his fine form this season, and he has also spoken of the incredible prospect of Iliman Ndiaye switching Merseyside clubs.

Speaking to Adventure Gamers , Fowler said: "I saw Liverpool were linked with Bournemouth ’s Antoine Semenyo. Yakuba Minteh has been very good for Brighton and that's the beauty of the Premier League .

"If you’ve got a player who’s playing well and performing, you're going to get linked with other clubs. Would Brighton want him to go? No.

"Bournemouth won’t want Semenyo to leave, and Everton won’t want Ndiaye to leave either. Salah's not going to be around forever, even though he’s just signed a new contract.

"But anyone who Liverpool think can fit that bill, they’re going to try and sign them."
