Liverpool are looking to forget about their Premier League woes by continuing an impressive run in the Champions League. So far, the Reds are sitting in mid-table with six wins and six losses, and are continuing to struggle under Arne Slot.

A 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday cemented fans' worries with the squad as Alexander Isak was hooked on 68 minutes for Federico Chiesa. The British record transfer has been a disappointment for the Reds, and supporters will be hoping the team can turn things around soon.

In Europe, Liverpool have three wins and one loss, cementing their position in the top half of the Champions League table. A match-up against PSV is next, and Slot is keen for his team to find some form before the fixture list gets any more congested. Here, Mirror Football has all the details on the latest coming out of Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp previously revealed he had a secret meeting with Liverpool before Brendan Rodgers was sacked in 2015. Current boss Slot is under fire due to recent results, and fans may be wondering if some similar behind-the-scenes manoeuvring is already happening.

At the time, Rodgers was dealing with immense pressure, as the club were sitting 10th - one place higher than they are now - and was eventually sacked in October 2015. Klopp was appointed four days later, and he revealed that conversations had been taking place for weeks before the axing.

He said: "The first meeting was in New York, that's true. But the first phone call with Mike was before that, three days before I don't know.

"It was a nice day, I remember that. I think I was in bed still. I had nothing to do. I had time off. I knew that Mike, or someone, from FSG was going to call. I didn't know Mike at that point. But we had one hour on the phone.

"I obviously convinced him in a way that he wanted to meet in New York to bring the deal over the line. Pretty much that's how it started."

Grame Souness is worried about Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, stating their downturn in form is seriously affecting the team's overall state. By this time last season, Salah was already on 11 goals and six assists and had been getting early Ballon d'Or shouts.

This season, the Egyptian has scored four goals and assisted twice, showcasing a serious dip in form in front of goal. On the other hand, Van Dijk has conceded 24 goals so far in all competitions and is uncharacteristically shaky in the heart of the defence.

Reds icon Souness is concerned about the duo as well as the overall shape of the squad. In an exclusive discussion with the Echo, he said: "For the rest of the squad, they’re conceding goals that they don’t normally.

"Virgil van Dijk is now 34 and he made two mistakes in the Community Shield final - he was at fault for both goals just by being six inches too late. There is no doubt about it, at 34 the decline has started - he is still a wonderful player, but he will be on that slope and the same with Mohamed Salah - that worries me."
