Liverpool news LIVE: Arne Slot sack verdicts with press conference planned after PSV loss

The pressure is starting to mount on Liverpool boss Arne Slot .

Last season's Premier League champions have sunk to a new low after nine defeats in their last 12 fixtures, the most recent, a 4-1 defeat to Eredivisie side PSV in the Champions League . Liverpool were also comfortably beaten 3-0 by Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest at the weekend, with some calling for Slot to be sacked.

The Dutch head coach admitted he was not worried about his position at the club, despite their dreadful run of form. Speaking after the defeat to PSV, Slot said: "No, I am not worried – what I mean with that is that my focus is on other things than worrying about my own position.

"I try to analyse [and] try to help the players as much as I can, and it is obvious that I don’t do it in the way that I did it last season because when you talk about individual errors, I think that is also something that comes from a team effort.

"So, again, I need to do better and that is what I am trying to do every single day, to improve the team, and that is where my main focus is, to be honest."

The Reds have a press conference planned this afternoon at 3pm less than a few hours after Slot last spoke to the media. This however, is a pre-planned press meeting to look ahead to the clash with West Ham United.

Who will be Liverpool boss on January 1st

Bet365 has the latest odds regarding who'll be in charge of Liverpool come January first 2026.

bet365's Steve Freeth said: "Liverpool aren't a club known for knee-jerk reactions regarding their managers, but there are no signs that this humiliation will end any time soon with PSV Eindhoven being the latest club to exploit the Reds' defensive frailties.

"However, we are giving Slot the vote of confidence with our odds of 1/2 that he will still be in charge for the Leeds United game on January 1st, but that price could fluctuate significantly after the trip to West Ham."
