Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah posted a gym update on Instagram on Thursday night as uncertainty around his future remains . Saturday's clash with Brighton could potentially be the 33-year-old's final appearance for the Reds.

Salah was notably absent from the midweek Champions League squad for his side's Inter Milan clash, following controversial remarks made after Liverpool 's draw with Leeds United last weekend. The Egyptian star had been benched for that game and the two preceding Premier League matches, sparking fresh speculation about his future at Anfield.

Despite the uncertainty, Salah seems to be maintaining his usual routine. On Thursday night, he shared a mirror selfie from his home gym on Instagram , showing his commitment to his rigorous fitness regimen amid the ongoing drama.

If Salah can get back on good terms with manager Arne Slot and the club, he might make a comeback in this weekend's match against Brighton at Anfield.

Slot is scheduled to speak to the press from Liverpool's AXA Training Centre at 9am on Friday morning, where he is expected to provide clarity on the situation, reports the Liverpool Echo .

However, even if Salah does play this weekend, he will soon be off the pitch again as he is set to represent Egypt in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

With Salah's future hanging in the balance, he finds himself once more linked to a lucrative switch to the Saudi Pro League, where officials have already been mulling over a potential agreement.

" Mohamed Salah is welcome in the Saudi League, but it is the clubs that are responsible for negotiating with players," Saudi Pro League chief executive Omar Mugharbel confirmed this week, adding: "For sure Salah is one of them [a target]."

A Public Investment Fund source also told the AFP news agency: "We follow Salah's position thoroughly and believe there can be a move either on loan or through a permanent transfer.

"There are no direct negotiations with the club yet, but action will be taken at the right moment."

The PIF holds stakes in Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad within the Saudi Pro League, while Al-Qadsiah - who boast connections to state-owned energy giant Aramco - have also been mentioned as a prospective destination for Salah.
