Man United & Man City 'keeping close tabs' on 22-year-old Premier League star

Manchester United and Manchester City are “keeping close tabs” on Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott , with both clubs considering a summer move for the highly rated 22-year-old, according to TEAMtalk .

With just over two years remaining on his contract, Scott could be available for a reduced fee at the end of the season, a situation that has alerted several Premier League giants.

Both Manchester clubs have been following Scott’s development for more than a year, viewing him as one of the most promising midfielders in the league right now.

His ability to glide through pressure, progress the ball, and operate in multiple midfield roles makes him an attractive long-term signing.

For United, Scott fits the profile of midfielder they urgently need . Some who can keep possession of the ball and make clever decisions.

The club are expected to overhaul their midfield in the summer, with Casemiro likely to depart and Manuel Ugarte struggling to cement a place.

Scott has been on United’s list since his days at Bristol City , and scouts remain strongly in favour of a move.

City, meanwhile, see Scott as a natural Guardiola-style midfielder, intelligent, press-resistant, and versatile.

City have been planning to inject new life into their midfield for the 2026/27 season, and Scott’s age profile aligns perfectly with their strategy of long-term squad sustainability.

Although not an immediate priority in January, City are positioning themselves early should Bournemouth open the door to negotiations.

Beyond Manchester, Aston Villa have maintained interest in the England youth international .

Unai Emery is expected to strengthen his midfield options in the summer, and Scott’s ability to operate as a No. 8 or inverted playmaker appeals strongly to Villa’s recruitment team.

Tottenham were also tracking Scott heavily, but the situation may shift following their successful £40m signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.
