Manchester United failed to make it back-to-back Premier League wins after a late sucker punch from West Ham at Old Trafford

After beating Crystal Palace last time out , United were aiming to secure consecutive victories and with it move towards the Champions League places. And it looked as though a win was exactly what they were going to get as Diogo Dalot's first Premier League goal in a year-and-a-half opened the scoring.

West Ham were not to be denied though as Soungoutou Magassa scored late on to ensure a share of the spoils.

The draw sees Ruben Amorim 's side move up to eighth ahead of next Monday's clash with struggling Wolves . In the meantime, West Ham remain in the relegation zone after just one defeat in their last five games.

Here are all of the talking points from Old Trafford:

After injuries to Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, Ruben Amorim was forced to name a somewhat patched up backline that included Luke Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui in central positions alongside youngster Ayden Heaven. And the former Arsenal man appeared to struggle getting to grips with the game.

He was spun on a few occasions by Callum Wilson and picked up an early yellow card. That forced Amorim into action at half-time with Leny Yoro introduced in place of Heaven.

Man United were well aware of Aaron Wan-Bissaka's defensive abilities when they agreed to let him join the Hammers. And they were on show at Old Trafford to deny the Red Devils' biggest chance of the first half.

Amad skipped past El Hadji Malick Diouf and produced a teasing cross towards Zirkzee. After scoring against Crystal Palace , the Dutchman did well to get his body on the ball and divert it towards goal, only to find Wan-Bissaka on the goalline.

The defender proved to be a stubborn opponent throughout the game. United might have felt he should have been dismissed for two yellow cards but it was still an impressive showing nevertheless.

With Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo back for the Red Devils, some might have thought that their opening goal of the game would come through either of the pair. But it came from a very unlikely source - Diogo Dalot.

After West Ham failed to clear the ball, it fell to the Portuguese defender. He took a moment to compose himself before finishing coolly. It was the 26-year-old's first Premier League goal since May 2024, not that anyone would have known given the cultured nature of his finish.

While it was not the result that the Red Devils will have wanted, there were still a few impressive performances - chief among them coming from Casemiro. It was another brilliant performance from the Brazilian in what has been an impressive season.

The midfielder made three tackles, provided an interception and a clearance apiece and also blocked three shots. Given how close he looked to leaving Old Trafford last season, his turnaround really is impressive.

And if United seal a return to the Champions League , it's not misguided to say that the former Real Madrid star would have been a key part of that.

In honesty, there wasn't too much on quality on show at Old Trafford. Only the goals really stood out.

While Dalot's was a cultured finish, the same could certainly be said of Magassa's equaliser. The ball came towards the 22-year-old after being cleared off the line by Mazraoui.

But he did not panic and converted coolly into the bottom corner. The excitement certainly got to him as he celebrated with gusto, but given it was his first Premier League goal, not many can really begrudge him of that.
