Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo's future is up in the air after falling badly out of favour under Ruben Amorim . The Englishman saw a loan request rejected over the summer but could be on the move as January approaches.
Amorim's side have somewhat recovered after a dismal start to this Premier League season but one midfielder continues to suffer. Despite once looking like a potential superstar at Old Trafford and bagging an FA Cup-winning goal just over a year ago, 20-year-old Mainoo doesn't seem to be part of the manager's plans .
He continues to be linked with a United exit, although there has reportedly been a development regarding one of his rumoured suitors. Mirror Football brings you all the latest news from Old Trafford, including a new role for a midfield ace.
Mainoo looked set to make a loan move away from Manchester this summer but the club blocked a departure. New reports suggest he could be on the move in January after continuing to be left out of Amorim's plans.
One speculated destination was Italian side Napoli. The likes of Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund have left Old Trafford to prosper in Naples and it was reported that the club had shown an interest in the youngster.

But Tutto Mercato now report that Napoli are "on the fence" regarding Mainoo and have an alternative in mind in the form of West Ham' s Soungoutou Magassa.
They also state that Roma and Italy star Lorenzo Pellegrini is on the club's radar, should they choose to abandon their pursuit of the promising Mainoo.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes remains an integral part of Amorim's side this season despite only bagging two goals. He has started every match so far.
Since joining United from Sporting CP in January 2020 the Portugal international has been a dependable rock in the heart of the club's midfield and his commitment and on-field contributions have been recognised.

On United's club website, there is a section that houses profiles of players the club deem to be 'legends.' This includes the likes of Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney , Paul Scholes and countless other icons.
But Fernandes now finds his name on said list alongside another current, albeit on loan player in the form of Marcus Rashford . The 31-year-old's profile is complete with a biography of his time at the club so far and a suitably gold-trimmed design.
