Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on Bournemouth's Tyler Adams ahead of the January transfer window . The United States midfielder is valued at £40million with the Reds Devils having a chance to take a close look at him when they dace the Cherries on Monday night.

United have been linked with a host of Premier League midfielders since the summer window - as they aim to bolster a perceived weak area in their squad. Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Brighton's Carlos Baleba have been frequently mentioned, but their hefty price tags could prove to be a hurdle.

As such, Adams might be a more feasible target for the club ahead of the January transfer window. According to The Daily Mail , the 26-year-old has 'cropped up in conversations' regarding United's potential midfield acquisitions in January or next summer.

Adams has previously expressed his fondness for playing at the Theatre of Dreams, hinting that he would be open to a move. He said: "It's just a special occasion.

"This is what you grow up watching, whether you're a [United] fan or not. A fan of Manchester United walking into Old Trafford will change your perspective on everything.

"I played against Manchester United at Old Trafford during COVID with RB Leipzig. That was the first time I walked into Old Trafford and I was like, my dream is really to play in the Premier League because this is what it's about right here.

"Now, being able to go back and play there multiple times and have good results, especially makes it a little bit better. So yeah, I always get excited to play against United."

Adams' potential arrival at the Reds could, in turn, see academy product Kobbie Mainoo edged towards the exit door. The 20-year-old has found opportunities limited under Amorim, and is yet to make a single Premier League start this season.

The Portuguese has encouraged Mainoo to approach him directly, though, if he's considering a January departure. "The team comes first and if Kobbie comes to me and talks to me, I will talk to him," he said.

"I'm not going to say what I'm going to say to Kobbie, but I will be really pleased if Kobbie comes to talk with me about that. I just want my players happy and I understand that every individual has their goals.

"The frustration doesn't help anybody. But, again, the focus is on this game - and we will see if that happens.

"I had some conversations with him, especially last year, and with other players but about that subject, no. I didn't speak with him."
