Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is being hampered by not having his best players at his disposal, according to former Premier League midfielder Ruud Gullit. The Red Devils have had a mixed start to the season, including a shocking defeat in the League Cup to League Two side Grimsby Town .
They'll be looking to continue their recent improved form on Monday night. United will take on Everton at Old Trafford in the 8pm kick-off , knowing that a win will take them up to fifth place.
Amorim's team are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games, but they've had to settle for draws in their last two. The United manager was heavily backed with a net spend of around £170million this summer.
It saw the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko touch down at the club. Despite that investment, Gullit believes that a lack of quality within the squad is one of Amorim's biggest challenges.
"I think it's always very difficult to get into a team halfway through the season. He did. So then you have half a season on and off," he exclusively said, via videogamer.com .
"Then he's been able to start a season with his own team and everything. But they still have some problems.
"The point is that the best players play somewhere else. They don't play for Man Utd at the moment.
"And so they have to deal with players that play already at their highest level. Can they do more? Not everyone. That's the difficulty, he has to do it with the players that he has."

With the January transfer window now fast approaching, plans will be being put into place for any activity that happens at Old Trafford. United have already been linked with several possible incomings with concentration on their midfield .
The club made an approach to Brighton for Carlos Baleba back in the summer. They have also been linked with an interest in England duo Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson.
Talking about if signing a new midfielder in the January window is a priority, Amorim said: "It's hard to say that, but we can add in the future.
"But I don't know when, different characteristics, the same thing that our thinking in front, sometimes it's not the quality of the players, it's the characteristics of the players and we can improve in some areas in our club.
