Man Utd star told two aspects of his play aren’t ‘good enough’ after major drop-off in form

Meanwhile, Manchester United loanee Hojlund has not found the back of the net since October 5 – albeit he did miss two games through muscle fatigue later in the month.

He played the full 90 minutes of Sunday’s contest, yet registered only one shot in the entire game and did not create a single chance.

What’s more, the Dane won just four of his 13 attempted ground duels and one of five attempted aerial duels ( Fotmob ).

The CBS Sports Goloazo panel touched on his shoddy performance at full-time, saying: “Hojlund’s first touch and link-up play isn’t good enough.”

From United’s perspective, these are issues that they know all too well.

The 22-year-old’s struggles in a red shirt prompted INEOS to part ways with him after only two seasons, bringing in a £73 million successor in the form of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Shortly after Sesko’s deal was finalised and the term had got underway, Hojlund was shipped off to Naples on loan, and they will have to make his transfer permanent upon the culmination of the campaign as long as they qualify for the Champions League.

The move has allowed Hojlund to reunite with former teammate Scott McTominay, while reports suggest the Italian giants are preparing a mid-season swoop for the out-of-favour Kobbie Mainoo.
