Karim Adeyemi was fined £396,000 after admitting to the possession of a pair of brass knuckles and a taser. The Borussia Dortmund forward saw his case concluded at a district court in Hagen in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and has avoided a public trial.

He also will not be given a criminal record. Instead, he must cough up a fine which has been calculated at 60 daily rates of £6,600 (€7,500), 'in accordance with his salary.'

The payments relating to the offence, which dates back to 2024, also started on October 30, as per The Athletic . German law prohibits the possession of either item, and can carry a sentence of up to three years behind bars.

In an official statement, Adeyemi's club said: "BVB always takes criminal allegations seriously and uses them as an opportunity to discuss them with its employees while respecting confidentiality obligations," reports the MEN - who have approached both the German Football Association and the player's representative for comment.

It comes as the 23-year-old is currently on international duty with Germany , who secured qualification to the 2026 World Cup on Monday night with a 6-0 thrashing of Slovakia thanks to goals from Nick Woltemade, Serge Gnabry , Ridle Baku, Assan Ouedraogo and a brace from Leroy Sane .

Manager Julian Nagelsmann was also questioned about Adeyemi's situation by reporters during a press conference on Sunday, but remained tight-lipped. He said: "The issue is a bit too big before such an important game, for all of us and for German football. Therefore, I will not comment on any further inquiries - regardless of their nature."

Thanks to his performances on the pitch for club and country, Adeyemi has reportedly seen interest from numerous Premier League teams, including Manchester United . While the winger is under contract until 2027, he is said to be unsettled with Dortmund as the January transfer window looms.

Adeyemi has three goals and five assists to his name from 14 appearances this term, but clashed with BVB manager Niko Kovac recently when he was substituted, throwing a bottle at the bench in frustration. Speaking about the incident, the head coach said: "I think that's unnecessary. It's okay that he can be angry sometimes, but that's unnecessary; he's an adult."

As per Bild , Dortmund are hopeful of negotiating a new contract with Adeyemi, but his agent, Jorge Mendes, wants a £70million release clause inserting into any new deal at the Signal Iduna Park. It comes as Ruben Amorim may not opt to add more firepower to his side when they January transfer window rolls around.

The Portuguese tactician is currently reaping the benefits of bringing in Matheus Cunha , Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko this summer, as United sit seventh in the Premier League standings - unbeaten in their last five outings. Many fans may also argue that the manager would be far better off strengthening the heart of his midfield, considering Bruno Fernandes has dropped into a deeper role alongside an ageing Casemiro .

While United were linked with securing the services of Brighton and Hove Albion starlet, Carlos Baleba , for the majority of the summer, the Seagulls' £100m price tag proved too hot to handle. And while the club may choose to revisit their pursuit in a little over a month, they have also been linked with a number of other suitable players as of recent for a fraction of the cost.

VfB Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller is one name who has come up in conversation, while Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton has also been speculated as a transfer target. Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson has also been suggested as a good fit at Old Trafford, as well as Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
