Manchester United are eyeing a potential January transfer window move for Olympiacos midfielder Christos Mouzakitis , according to the Sun .

Man United want to strengthen in the middle of the park at the Old Trafford club in January as manager Ruben Amorim looks to mount a top-four challenge this term.

Mouzakitis has caught the eye of the Red Devils, but they will face competition from Brighton & Hove Albion for the services of the 18-year-old Greek international.

The Seagulls see the left-footed central midfielder, who has been likened to Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta due to his style of play and control of the ball, as a possible replacement for the wantaway Carlos Baleba.

Man United could also battle the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Juventus, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid for Mouzakitis.

He helped Olympiacos win the UEFA Youth League in 2023-24 and also helped them pick up the Super League Greece title and Greek Football Cup in 2024-25 after stepping up to the first-team.

The Red Devils target made the Super League Greece Team of the Season at the end of the campaign and was also named Super League Greece Young Player of the Season.

While Mouzakitis is currently valued at £13.2 million, his asking price is expected to skyrocket should the bigwigs come calling in January.

He won the Golden Boy Web Winner this year, a version of the Golden Boy award decided by online users, and he has been tipped to join a top club sooner or later.

It remains to be seen whether Man United will make any concrete move for him in the next transfer window, but he has the potential to play for them in the near future.

The physicality and pace of the Premier League could be too much for Mouzakitis right now despite his proven ability to control the tempo of games and regularly find defence-splitting passes.

However, that may not stop suitors from taking the punt on him in January or in the summer, and Man United will likely continue keeping tabs on his situation before making a final decision.
