Manchester United still feel Liam Delap would have been right for them

Manchester United still feel Chelsea striker Liam Delap would have been a right signing for them, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney .
Man United and other clubs still describe a move for him as a “no-brainer”, given he was available for just £30 million – his release clause.
Delap scored 12 goals and weighed in with two assists in 37 Premier League games for Ipswich Town last term, and the Red Devils were keen on bringing him to the Old Trafford club.
However, the 22-year-old joined Chelsea instead, while Man United signed Benjamin Sesko for £74m.
The Slovenian has scored five goals in 19 games for the Red Devils, assisting once, while Delap has three goals and two assists in 24 games since joining the Blues.
It has been a disappointing campaign for the Englishman, and many are now wondering whether he regrets going to Chelsea , given the attacking options the Blues boast.
Nevertheless, Man United are convinced he would have been perfect for them, and his fee made all the more sense given the questions about the ability of other strikers available last summer to step up and score regularly for a big Premier League club.
Sesko has not been able to hit the ground running since moving to Man United , largely because the club did not play to his strengths under former boss Ruben Amorim.
He has scored three goals in his last two games and the Red Devils have also been encouraged by his sharp movement so far.
He still has plenty of room and time for improvement, but Man United will need to appoint a permanent manager who plays to his strengths to get the best out of him.
It is unknown whether Delap would have fared better at Old Trafford, but he would likely have got chances to play more and replicate his form from last term.
