Marcelo Bielsa tipped for surprise Premier League return amid Daniel Farke Leeds sack pressure

Marcelo Bielsa could make a stunning return to the Premier League in the coming weeks, but that may not be with Leeds United . The Argentine icon led the Whites back to the top-flight and enjoyed a solid first campaign before his eventual departure a year later in 2022.
Despite the way things ended, Bielsa remains a hero at Elland Road , where supporters still harbour dreams of his return. Whether that becomes a reality anytime soon is uncertain - particularly with Daniel Farke facing mounting scrutiny in the hot-seat .
According to Alan Nixon on Patreon, as quoted by Leeds Live , Bielsa could return to English football within the next 12 months, with "several" Premier League clubs closely monitoring his situation. The 70-year-old is currently managing Uruguay's national side, preparing for next summer's World Cup.
Despite qualification being secured, uncertainty surrounds Bielsa's future after he held a recent press conference addressing his position. He remarkably described himself as "toxic", but insisted he wouldn't walk away before the World Cup and would see through the original agreement.
"From the conversation. I spoke for many hours with the president, and with Jorge [Giordano]," he said when questioned about whether ot not he'd been asked to step down from the Uruguay job. "The conclusion of the conversation is that the project continues exactly as planned until the World Cup
"That is the summary and final conclusion of the conversation with the president. Therefore, I'm passing on that information; that is how the conversation ended."

That hints that his future could, potentially, be elsewhere, with top-flight English clubs reportedly monitoring a potential summer switch. Whether Leeds are among those interested parties remains unclear - particularly given the mounting scrutiny currently facing the Yorkshire outfit.
Farke's position is under pressure after the Whites slipped into the drop zone over the weekend . The defeat to Aston Villa proved to be another painful setback for the German boss.
His side took the lead through Lukas Nmecha before Morgan Rogers struck twice after the break. Jeers echoing around Elland Road underlined the growing frustration amongst supporters, who are demanding improvement in the weeks and months ahead.

Whether that improvement requires a new face in the hot-seat remains to be seen, but the heat is certainly now building. The run of fixtures offers little respite, with Manchester City , Chelsea and Liverpool all lying in wait across the next three top-flight games.
Should the poor form persist, the pressure will only intensify further. Whether that forces the 49ers' hand remains uncertain, given they've backed Farke thus far.
Yet the prospect of a managerial shake-up appears increasingly plausible with each successive loss.
