Matheus Cunha has reached out to Manchester United supporters on social media to express his gratitude for their backing while he recovers from injury. The Brazilian striker is currently sidelined after picking up a knock during training last week.
The setback meant he was unavailable for the Everton defeat and will also rule him out of Sunday's encounter with Crystal Palace . "I expect to have Matheus in the next one [West Ham on Thursday], not this one," Reds boss Ruben Amorim confirmed during Friday's press conference.
That evening, Cunha posted on Instagram with an image of himself working out on an exercise bike, writing: "Thank you all for the messages, I haven't gone crazy yet. Despite the joke, thank you for your concern. Much love."

Cunha, who sealed a £62.5million switch from Wolves during the summer transfer window, has made a strong impression at Old Trafford and his absence has been keenly felt. News of his injury first emerged when the 26 year old was forced to miss a Christmas lights switch-on event in Altrincham.
"Unfortunately Matheus Cunha has had an accident in training today and will not be able to attend tonight's Christmas Lights Switch on in Altrincham due to medical reasons," @VisitAltrincham posted on social media a week ago.
Alongside Cunha, Benjamin Sesko continues to be out of action with a knee problem. Amorim indicated at last week's press conference that he anticipates Sesko returning to fitness before the Wolves fixture on December 8, though he acknowledged the forward might require additional recovery time.
Meanwhile, United's skipper Harry Maguire will continue to be sidelined due to a thigh problem. "It will take a little bit longer, and we are taking care of him. Harry, the same," Amorim revealed.
The Red Devils will be back on the pitch this Sunday at Palace (12pm), aiming to recover from their defeat against Everton. Before that setback, Amorim's squad had enjoyed a five-match unbeaten run in the Premier League .
This impressive streak included victories over Sunderland , Liverpool and Brighton, along with draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.
Currently sitting tenth in the Premier League table with 18 points from 12 matches, United are just three points shy of the top four in an incredibly tight upper half of the league.
