Messi closed the gap with Cristiano Ronaldo by breaking records and making history in the MLS playoffs with Inter Miami

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami put on a spectacular show of goals, assists, records, and history against Nashville SC on the night of Saturday, November 8.

With a 4-0 victory, they advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals in the MLS playoffs , and it was all celebration at Chase Stadium.

Messi made history, again

In the second half, 26-year-old Argentine Allende scored the other two goals that gave Inter Miami a comfortable victory with assists from Jordi Alba and Messi .

With two goals and one assist, the Argentine captain moved closer to the 900-goal mark in his career: with a total of 894 goals , Lionel is now just six goals away .

Messi also surpassed his historic rival, Cristiano Ronaldo , as the player with the most goals without penalties , with 782, while the Portuguese has 773 and 163 more games than the Argentine.

In addition, with his assist to Tadeo in the 76th minute, Messi reached a total of 400 assists in his career, while Ronaldo has 266 assists in total. However, CR7 has 59 more goals than Leo , with 953 goals, and is on his way to 1,000.

On the other hand, this is the first time that Inter Miami has made it past this round. They will now face FC Cincinnati , who finished second in the Eastern Conference table , away from home. Although both teams had 65 points, Cincinnati won 20 games and Inter won 19.
