Kleberson has explained that Manchester United would be wise to build their team around Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha , while also urging his former club not to spend big in the January transfer window . It looks to be a busy month for Michael Carrick at Old Trafford, who has stepped into an interim head coaching role until season's end.

While his first game in charge saw the Red Devils run out 2-0 winners over Manchester City at the weekend, fans worldwide will be waiting patiently to see whether Carrick will be as active off the pitch. While a number of Premier League clubs have been linked with various arrivals and exits as of recent, the pace at United has been far slower.

While there has been speculation on loan moves for Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo , it seems as though both men are set to stay put for the rest of the season. Elsewhere, there has been very little talk of new arrivals, with Carrick looking increasingly likely to stick with his current crop of talent.

The news will be welcomed by Kleberson, who enjoyed a two-year stint at United under Sir Alex Ferguson between 2003 and 2005, given his recent stance on transfers. Speaking exclusively to Mirror Football , via Betvictor Online Casino , the Brazilian said: "For this month, it's tough to say something, some player, you know, because when you move a manager, when the coach gets a new club, he has to give a juice for the guys in the club.

"If you try to bring someone now, probably those guys are going to be waiting for some coach leaving, so they can think, ‘Okay, now's the time to get it back.’ And then some guys get it and say, ‘Oh no, my gosh, that's my time, there’s someone coming now.’ I think they need to keep those guys, just put like a juice on those guys now.

"And then say, ‘Guys, it's with us, man. With us. Let's put everything we have, let's play for Reds, and then try to bring everything you can to win those games and finish the season in a good position for the club.'"

When asked if United should hold off on transfers until the summer, Kleberson called on Carrick to do just that and leave it to the club to sort at the end of the season when his contract ends.

Kleberson responded: " Exactly, because the mistakes are already made, you know what I mean? It's tough to fix now."

Elsewhere, Kleberson explained that the club should be looking to build around Fernandes and Cunha going forward, explaining how the two could be the key to turning the tide in the Premier League and Europe. When asked about how his compatriot is fairing since his summer transfer from Wolves , he said: "I believe he's doing well, you know?

"The problem is when the team and club doesn't move well - it affects, unfortunately, the field. Even the players say, no, it doesn't affect the field, but it's unfortunately affecting. And then when he moved to United, he went with a lot of confidence.

"He played well in the beginning, he got back in the Brazilian national team. He played also so well in the Brazilian national team. He's a classic player. I think the combination he and Bruno is really good.

"I think United has to think, 'Who's the next player going to be around those two guys?'... The puzzle [of the team], they can get it closer together? And [when they do] then the seasons go really, really consistently because those two are really, really good players."

At the time of writing, United sit fifth in the Premier League standings with nine wins, eight draws and five losses to show for their efforts this season. Up next is a trip to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, January 25, to face Mikel Arteta's leading Arsenal .

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
